Day 6 Florence

Florence is a lovely city and we spent much of the day seeing great works of art.  The highlight of the day was seeing the David.  I wasn't prepared for how impressive it would be.
Unfortunately pictures weren't allowed at these indoor museums.
Fortunately Florence has a great deal of "free" "outdoor" art.  As you walk around the city there are sculptures and paintings and mosaics decorating many outdoor spaces.  The best is Piazza della Signoria where you can photograph a replica of the David.

Il Duomo is the most impressive building in Florence.

Steve, of course, wanted to climb the tower.  Which we did.

And for which we were rewarded with more amazing views.

And for which I was rewarded with more tasty food!

We visited Pitti Palace with its immense gardens

And enjoyed the sunset on the Arno River

I'd previously mentioned how enamored I am with Italian bikes with all their squeaky, rusty charm.  Well, the people of Florence love their bikes--and I love them more!
